Gene Denny has spent almost 25 years in education and educational technology. He began his career spending several years as a classroom science teacher before moving into the Technology Department at the Des Moines Public Schools, serving as a Network Engineer and Telecommunications Manager. After ten years with Des Moines, Gene became Director of Technology for the Johnston Community Schools in Johnston, Iowa, before taking a position with Computer Information Concepts of Greeley, CO. There, Gene provided project management services, support, and training for school districts from Philadelphia to Los Angeles on the Infinite Campus student information system and Tableau. Gene currently serves as a Database Analyst and Report Writer Specialist, again with the Des Moines Schools. Gene's responsibilities include management of a 5000-plus user Tableau deployment at DMPS as well as creation, training, and management of Tableau reports for the district in direct support of Des Moines' commitment to data-driven decision making. The Des Moines Public Schools have now come to depend on Tableau dashboards to monitor daily progress toward building and district goals.
